The Customer

Pyramid Display Materials Ltd. is a UK-based business supplying the print and display trade with trusted materials, reliable service and expert support.

Operating across multiple warehouses, the business needed an ERP platform that could support more consistent, efficient and scalable ways of working. For several years, Pyramid had been using an on-premises version of Microsoft NAV, but the system was becoming increasingly restrictive as the business looked to modernise.

The Challenge

While Microsoft NAV had supported the business for several years, it was no longer giving Pyramid the flexibility it needed. Performance issues were slowing down day-to-day work, while the on-premises environment limited what teams could do technically and operationally. Simple improvements had become difficult and costly to deliver, and the user experience was becoming frustrating for the people relying on the system every day.

The business also wanted to reduce its reliance on manual, paper-based processes and create a more scalable platform for the future. Key goals included improving efficiency through automation, supporting sales growth with more streamlined operations, and putting the foundations in place for continuous improvement year after year.

The Solution

Pyramid chose to move from Microsoft NAV to Microsoft Business Central in the cloud, working with Node4 to modernise its ERP environment and create a stronger foundation for future improvement. The move to SaaS-based Business Central gave the business greater ownership of its system, access to a wider ecosystem of apps, and more opportunity to continuously improve processes across finance, purchasing, sales and warehousing.

Node4 was selected not only for its technical capability, but also for cultural fit. Pyramid wanted a partner who could understand the business quickly, focus on outcomes rather than jargon, and work collaboratively rather than simply dictate a solution. Node4’s approach stood out for identifying pain points clearly, presenting a competitive proposal, and bringing people to the project that Pyramid could see itself working with long term.

Change management was also central to the project. Pyramid involved colleagues from across the business early, including warehouse teams, to make sure new processes reflected real-world ways of working. This helped reduce anxiety, build advocacy and support adoption once the system went live.

I rely on Node4 to keep us updated with new functionality and to tell us what’s possible. We work together as a team, and that’s critical for what comes next.

The Results

Following the move to SaaS-based Business Central, Pyramid quickly began to see tangible benefits. One of the most impactful changes was the automation of key accounting processes, including purchase invoicing, which helped reduce manual effort and create immediate efficiency gains.

The business also benefited from smaller, targeted system improvements that made a meaningful difference to day-to-day work. By working with Node4’s short-order team, Pyramid was able to implement focused changes that delivered immediate value without the need for large-scale projects every time.

With Business Central now in place, Pyramid is focused on building for the future. Key areas of interest include warehouse management, improving consistency across multiple sites, and enabling better stock visibility across locations. By combining a modern ERP platform with a long-term partnership approach, Pyramid has laid the groundwork for continuous improvement, greater efficiency and sustainable growth.
