For twenty years, the cloud industry has been selling you compromise.

Pay more for control. Pay more for speed. Pay more for sovereignty. Lock in for stability. Accept the bill you're given. Trust the partner who sold you the platform to also be the one who tells you whether you should be on it.

We don't believe in those trade-offs. We never have. And the campaign we're launching this summer, Stop Compromising, exists to make the argument out loud.

What We've All Quietly Accepted

For too long, the choices the cloud industry offers you have been framed as either-or.

Public cloud or sovereign. Modern or controlled. Fast or safe. Innovative or compliant. Elastic or predictable. Are you a laggard or one of the cool kids?

We've all been asked to pick a side and pay accordingly. CFOs have spent the last decade trying to forecast bills they can't fully explain. CIOs have spent it defending platforms they didn't fully choose. CISOs have spent it bolting security onto operating models that weren't designed for it. And the technology leaders responsible for AI in 2026 are now being asked to deliver intelligence at scale on a stack that was never designed for the placement, jurisdiction and audit decisions AI requires.

The numbers tell you what that's cost. Flexera 2026 puts UK cloud waste at 29%, the first increase in five years. Around 87% of UK organisations are at least exploring repatriating workloads they were told would never leave public cloud. Around 73% of organisations already run hybrid estates. 74% of European businesses now cite cost optimisation as their top cloud initiative. Across the UK enterprise mid-market, hundreds of millions of pounds are sitting in the wrong place, on the wrong platform, at the wrong commercial terms.

That isn't a CIO problem. It isn't a CFO problem. It isn't even an operations problem. It's an industry problem. And it's time to name it.

The Compromises We Don't Accept

We've never bought the argument that you have to choose between cost and control. We've built a no-contract sovereign IaaS platform, our Virtual Data Centre, that delivers 20% to 40% lower run cost than the same workload on hyperscaler infrastructure, without locking you into a multi-year commitment. The maths isn't a marketing claim. It's a structural fact.

We’ve never bought the argument that speed comes at the expense of safety. Our 24x7 UK SOC is staffed by security-cleared analysts on UK soil. Our compliance posture covers ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, NHS DSPT and PCI DSS. We migrated 350 Brintons users into an Azure & VDC hybrid cloud in five weeks, with a security wrap, with zero disruption. The two things aren’t in tension. They never were.

We’ve never bought the argument that you have to choose between Microsoft scale and sovereign control. We're a Microsoft Azure Expert MSP, the top tier of Microsoft Azure partners globally, and we own and operate four UK data centres. Both. Together. The same Node4 engineers govern both sides. The same dashboards see both sides. The same operating model treats workload placement as the financial decision it actually is.

We’ve never bought the argument that AI forces a sovereignty trade-off. The next wave of regulated AI workloads needs the same operating model that already exists for the rest of your data. Public-cloud AI for frontier models. Sovereign AI on UK infrastructure for regulated inference. One hybrid model, governance, FinOps and observability layer across both. AI doesn’t choose sides. Your data does. Your operating model should reflect that, not fragment around it.

We’ve never bought the argument that complexity is just the cost of modern infrastructure. The digital sprawl most UK organisations carry (siloed teams, fragmented governance, duplicated tooling per platform) is an industry failure, not a technology one. It absorbs the innovation budget, expands the security threat surface, and turns every cost conversation into three. One coherent operating model across public, sovereign and on-premises is the antidote. It's what we've spent twenty years building.

We’ve never bought the argument that modernisation has to be disruptive to be valuable. Modernising legacy apps onto Azure PaaS routinely takes 20% to 30% out of infrastructure cost, removes operations work your team should never have been doing, and accelerates developer velocity at the same time. Shifting the right workloads from bespoke to SaaS (Microsoft 365, Dynamics, Power Platform, Copilot) compounds the saving. The complexity tax falls. The innovation budget grows.

And we’ve never bought the argument that an MSP shouldn’t be able to defend every pound on your bill. Aprolis cut their server estate by 73% under our model and got their acquisition-integration time down from 3 to 6 months to weeks. Stratas runs 100% on consumption-based pricing with near-100% uptime. Both can answer their board’s questions about IT spend with specifics.

Four Arguments We Want to Make this Year

Stop Compromising runs across FY27 with four specific arguments at its heart. Each one is a compromise we want to call out, and a credible alternative we can show you.

1. Find your 30%. The cloud-waste argument. Most UK cloud bills carry around 30% identifiable waste. Flexera 2026 puts the UK average at 29%. Most CIOs have no way of finding it without an external partner who looks at the whole estate. We'll prove what's there.

2. Out in 6. The data-centre exit argument. Your DC exit doesn't need 24 months and a war room. 6 months is a more than realistic target, with the right destination, the right plan, the right expertise and the right operating model.

3.            5 weeks. Zero drama. The modernisation argument. Modernisation has earned its reputation honestly. We’ve been rebuilding it, and now we are bringing AI to the party. The Brintons number, 350 users to Azure Virtual Desktop in five weeks, zero disruption, is the proof. It’s repeatable.

4.            Sovereignty isn’t a product. It’s whose law reaches the room. Node4 is a UK-incorporated, UK-governed, UK-staffed, UK-operated organisation with UK-certified compliance standards and UK data residency.

Each argument has the same conclusion. The compromise the industry has trained you to accept isn't necessary. There's a better option. We've built it. And we'll show you the numbers.

What We Won't Do

A campaign called Stop Compromising would be hollow without saying clearly what we won't compromise on either.

We won't pretend our platform is right for every organisation, we don’t have expertise in every technology, and we have a focused, integrated hybrid cloud platform which brings together Azure, our data centres and our sovereign cloud services.

We won't sell you a multi-year contract you don't need. VDC has been a no-contract platform from day one. That commercial structure is the point. If you want to leave, you can, and you can.

We won't sell you our own systems as the answer to a problem that needs different decisions. Tools don't fix operating models. The conversation we want to have is about operating model first, tooling second.

We won’t insist you have to buy our managed services or consulting; we actively support our customers to be hands-on; we have a rich partner network and are happy to work with any third parties.

The cloud industry has been asking customers to settle for ten years. We've been quietly building the alternative for twenty. We are fiercely independent, from building our own data centres to building our deep in-house expertise. This campaign is us saying out loud what we already know to be true. The trade-offs are unnecessary. The industry has stopped serving the customer. And the customers who notice will be the ones who recover their edge, their margins, their forecasting credibility, their sovereign control, and their strategic options.

What We'd Like You to Do

Three things, in whichever order makes sense for you.

If you’re curious about what Node4 hybrid cloud looks like for your organisation in 3 minutes, use our hybrid cloud builder app at Hybrid Cloud Builder - Node4

Get a free FinOps assessment to review your cloud spend wastage and receive a detailed optimisation report for Azure & M365.

If you're ready to put numbers against your own estate and discuss ideas, book a free Hybrid Cloud Assessment. We’ll meet you where you are, discuss your options and pathways. No commitment to proceed. We'll model your estate, reimagine it as an intentional hybrid cloud operating model and give you a plan you can take to your CFO. We don't need a contract to start the conversation.

Either way, we'd rather you know what's possible than keep operating inside the compromise the industry has been selling you.

That's what Stop Compromising means. That's what we're putting our name to. And that's what we'll prove with every piece of content, every customer outcome, and every conversation between now and the end of FY27.
