The Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (Acas) is a non-departmental public body that provides free and impartial advice to employers, employees, and their representatives on employment rights, best practices, policies, and resolving workplace conflicts across England, Scotland, and Wales. In June 2018, Acas sought to adopt a new conciliation case management system for its user base of more than 400 users. They needed a solution that could modernize their operations and ensure consistent conciliation processes across all offices and teams.
We first partnered with Acas back in June 2018 after their services were highlighted on the UK Government portal, G-Cloud – a digital marketplace for public sector organisations to browse Cloud service offerings.
With Acas looking to adopt a new conciliation case management system for their user base of more than 400 users, the project team worked closely with Acas’s individual dispute resolution (IDR) team on the development of an IDR solution.
After defining and documenting the organisation’s key management processes, we created architectural and solution designs to support these, and with the first fundamental stages complete, the build process began. Using Microsoft Dynamics 365 as the core system and delivering the solution to Acas incrementally, Node4’s experts collaborated with both business stakeholders and end users to ensure the roll-out was a success.
By offering an incremental approach, Acas had plenty of opportunity to refine requirements as they gained hands-on experience of the platform.
“Node4 spent time really getting to know Acas as an organisation and listening to all that we were trying to achieve before proposing the best route forward. The team did an excellent job of keeping our people involved and informed throughout, and this close collaboration with the IDR team proved to be a real success. The project helped us achieve important business goals, having modernised our operations and made it so much easier for us to deliver consistent conciliation processes across all of our offices and various teams.”

In addition to the development of the IDR solution and the deployment of new functionality, Acas was provided with Power Apps and Power Apps Component Framework (PCF) components, enabling the organisation to automate common processes.
Tisski CEO, Anna Assassa, said: “We were delighted that Acas wanted to keep Node4 on for a further G-Cloud contract term, securing our partnership until October 2022. The fact that we remain one of Acas’s Microsoft partners of choice stands as a testament to our focus on customer satisfaction and the hard work Tisski and Acas have put into fostering a strong working relationship.”
Today, we provide ongoing technical support to Acas via their in-house Service Desk.
