Welcome to May’s edition of Azure News, collating the latest updates in the world of Azure. As always, if you need any further information on anything we share in this month’s newsletter, or if you have any Azure queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
LOW LATENCY IN HIGH DEMAND
More enterprises are adopting IoT and AI-powered edge devices to process unprecedented amounts of operational data. That means that demand for low-latency connectivity is skyrocketing, with private 5G networks proving a popular solution.
Keen to unlock the benefits to more businesses, Azure has launched its private multi-access edge compute (MEC). It helps operators and integrators simplify the delivery of low-latency connectivity. By reducing integration complexity, enterprises can innovate more readily.
THE DATA EXPLOSION OPPORTUNITY
The insights hiding within data will change business trajectories in previously unthinkable ways, especially as automation takes hold. Although a huge opportunity, experts say that the data explosion is not without challenges.
To securely and effectively create, store analyse and share data, smarter tools are needed. That’s why last month, Microsoft announced several Azure updates designed to help organisations better manage the data deluge.
INNOVATION STRATEGIES THAT LEVERAGE APIS
These powerful little building blocks are the backbone of many of today’s digital experiences. In fact, effective API management has become critical to accelerating time-to-market and reacting quickly to customer feedback.
So, it should come as no surprise that API-first development is emerging as the go-to approach. Azure environments are no exception! Naga Surendran, Director of Product Marketing recently spotlighted the API-first strategies making a splash.
USING DIGITAL RESOURCES RESPONSIBLY
Almost every business wants to reduce its costs and progress sustainable practices. And with the cloud powering huge factions of our operations, it makes sense to focus on streamlining this type of infrastructure.
Azure is helping its customers achieve just that by developing cloud efficiency tools and sharing the latest insights, as they happen. Check out the most recent advice for saving money and energy without draining performance.
EMBRACING CHANGE WITH AZURE
For many of us, the current economic and geopolitical landscape is at its most tumultuous in living memory. That feeling of uncertainty is resonating amongst Azure customers too, says Erin Chapel, Vice President of Azure Core Product and Design.
That’s why the latest episode of Inside Azure for IT chose to delve into change resiliency strategies. Spend, security and modernisation were all under the microscope.
THE BEST PRICE-TO-PERFORMANCE RATIOS
Flexible options are always welcome in times of economic challenge. So, developers will be pleased to hear about two new plans for Microsoft Azure App Service – both of which provide compelling price-to-performance ratios.
First up is the Premium v3 (Pv3) service tier, which is accompanied by the Isolated v2 tier, which powers the high-security App Service Environment v3. Get all the details and compare the numbers in Azure’s news release.
MULTI-CLOUD GOES MULTI-ORBIT
Microsoft Azure Space – an initiative that brings new technologies to those in aerospace – has had a remarkable launch. So far, organisations including the US Space Force and Air Force Research Lab, the Space Development Agency and the Space Information Sharing and Analysis Center have benefited from Azure technology.
From securing environments that visual data about space weather events to establishing hybrid systems that work across multi-orbit networks, Azure is simply unstoppable.
DEFEAT DDOS, WHATEVER YOUR BUSINESS SIZE
DDoS attacks are going nowhere and although everyone’s a target, SMBs are perhaps more vulnerable due to limited specialised resources. Microsoft Azure is conscious of how its SMB customers may be affected by DDoS attacks and as a result, has developed enterprise-grade protection at an affordable price.
With key features including large-scale attack mitigation, Azure Portal integration and adaptive tuning to block false negatives, Azure DDoS solution is zero-compromise and low cost.
